I used this phrase today while chatting with a client. She looked at me with an expression that was somewhere between bewilderment, amusement and hysteria at which point we both broke into laughter. When asked what that meant, I had to say, I had no idea. It was an expression
of exclamation my Dad used to use, and I hadn’t used it in a long time.
So we started talking about the expressions and colloquialisms used in our families and hometowns when we were growing up. All those phrases we use without thinking. I know this isn’t very scientific, or skin related, but these things are a part of us – they help make us who we are.
So I’m curious, are there expressions like this in your family? Things you say, but aren’t really sure what they mean or where they came from? During the Holidays when we are getting together with our families, these expressions seem to come up more frequently, so let us know what yours are!
