We all do it. We use important occasions to motivate us. We get engaged and want to be the beautiful, fit, glowing bride. We have a class reunion coming up and want to look fabulous for all those people who made fun of us in high school. We find out our daughter is engaged and suddenly realize we are going to be the “Mother of the Bride”! These milestones can be great reasons to make changes – to lose weight, exercise, eat right, get a new hairstyle and finally practice some self-care. Because the emphasis is on looking good, we want to get our skin in shape too. So if you’ve got a “Big Day” on your horizon, here are some things to keep in mind.
- Plan ahead. Please don’t rush in to your esthetician 2 weeks before your wedding asking her to take care of your acne or remove the sun damage you’ve been accumulating for the last 10 years. This is a process and takes time – whether you choose a series of minor procedures or a more invasive treatment, there will be prepping, possibly some downtime and healing involved. Give your professionals time to work with your body and skin so you’ll be glowing at the altar, not hiding under your veil. Allow 3 – 6 months to transform your skin to glowing.
- Follow through with your plan. The time to do that is now; while the weather is cooler, dryer and we are getting less UV exposure it’s a great time of year to do corrective treatments. Peels, Microdermabrasion, LASER and IPL are all tolerated far better by you and your skin during the fall, winter and early spring months, so if you have a wedding, family reunion or other important event coming up in the summer, now is the time to start working with your esthetician to come up with a treatment strategy.
- Make self-care part of your plan. Getting ready for a big event can be hectic, so use your appointments as time to de-stress. Turn your phone off, tell your esthetician you need to chill – not chat (we need you to let us know if you want quiet), enjoy the music and aromatherapy, turn your mind off. Take the opportunity to take care of “all of you” during your visit.
So if you have an event that you want to show-off beautiful for, let us customize a treatment plan that will help you glow!
